Freelancers and business owners
1099 contractors, gig workers and small business owners can choose from Marketplace plans, high-deductible plans paired with a health savings account, and other options. We lay them side by side.
Between jobs or life changes
A short-term plan can fill a brief gap, but it is not ACA coverage: it can decline you or exclude conditions you already have. We explain the trade before you choose.
Often left out of health plans
Adult dental and vision care is usually not part of a medical plan. Standalone plans cover cleanings, fillings, eye exams and glasses. You can also see Ameritas dental plans online.
Wider choice of doctors
A PPO lets you see specialists without a referral and pays something toward out-of-network care. Where PPO plans are sold in your county, we show you what that flexibility costs.
Care by video or phone
Every Marketplace plan covers mental health care. We check which plans have your therapist or psychiatrist in network and how virtual visits are covered.
Arizona programs
AHCCCS is Arizona Medicaid, and KidsCare is the state health program for children. AHCCCS decides who qualifies. We help you understand the programs and where to apply.
A doctor you know by name
Direct Primary Care is a monthly membership with a local doctor. Paired with a high-deductible health plan, it can handle everyday care while the plan protects you from large bills.

A premium tax credit lowers your monthly premium, and how much you get depends on your household income and size. For 2026 coverage, households earning between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level can qualify. Using the 2025 HHS poverty guidelines, 400% works out to $62,600 a year for one person and $128,600 for a family of four.
Figures are for 2026 coverage; HHS and the IRS update them each year. Read ACA subsidies explained or retiring before 65 for the details.
Health insurance pays the doctor. These plans protect your income, your savings and the people who count on you.
Income protection
Term life for the years your family depends on your income, and permanent coverage for needs that last a lifetime. Subject to underwriting.
A lump sum at diagnosis
Pays a cash benefit if you are diagnosed with a covered illness such as a heart attack, stroke or cancer. You decide how to spend it.
Use it while living
Some term policies let you draw part of the death benefit early after a qualifying chronic, critical or terminal illness. Terms vary by company and are subject to underwriting.
Trips abroad
Most U.S. health plans pay little or nothing outside the country. Travel medical covers emergencies abroad, and trip protection covers the cost of the trip.
Protect your paycheck
Replaces part of your income if illness or injury keeps you from working. It matters most for the self-employed, who have no employer plan to fall back on. Subject to underwriting.
Working with your advisors
We work alongside your attorney and financial planner on the insurance side of your plan: policy ownership, beneficiaries and coverage amounts. We do not give legal or tax advice.
Planning a trip? Get a travel medical quote or get a trip protection quote online (each opens the company's own site in a new tab). How much life cover do you need? Try the life insurance needs calculator.
Life, long-term care, annuity and supplemental products are subject to underwriting and carrier approval. Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing company. Nothing on this site is tax, legal or investment advice.
In clients' words
Viola is so incredible. I’m a husband and father of 2 who never had health insurance because the high cost. I connected with Viola through a job I was previously working at and she got me a quote for $0 healthcare. Literally I’ve paid ZERO dollars. My prescriptions have gone from $40+ to $9. I am literally baffled in the best way possible. Viola is the person to go to. No doubt in my mind. Anytime I am asked about health insurance going forward, I will recommend her always

Yes, if you have a qualifying life event such as losing other coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby. That opens a Special Enrollment Period. Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1.
Short-term plans, dental, vision and life insurance can usually be bought at any time of year.
It is a window, usually 60 days from a qualifying life event, when you can enroll in or change a Marketplace plan outside open enrollment. Common events are losing job-based coverage, moving to a new area, marriage, a birth or an adoption.
Our special enrollment qualifier tool walks you through the common events, and we can confirm what HealthCare.gov will ask you to show.
For 2026 coverage, most households with income between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level can get a credit if they have no affordable job-based coverage. Using the 2025 HHS poverty guidelines, 400% is $62,600 for a single person and $128,600 for a family of four.
Our ACA subsidy calculator gives you an estimate in a minute. HealthCare.gov confirms the real amount when you apply.
You buy coverage the same way anyone without an employer plan does, and your tax credit is based on your expected net self-employment income. Self-employed people can often deduct health insurance premiums on their tax return. Ask your tax professional how that applies to you.
We help you estimate the income figure for the application and compare plans, including high-deductible plans that work with a health savings account.
ACA plans cannot turn you down or charge more for health conditions, must cover essential benefits such as prescriptions and maternity care, and qualify for tax credits. Short-term plans can ask health questions, exclude conditions you already have, and do not qualify for tax credits.
Short-term coverage can bridge a brief gap. For anything longer, an ACA plan usually protects you better.
Yes. AHCCCS, Arizona Medicaid, covers many adults with low incomes, not only children and pregnant women. Whether you qualify depends on your income and household, and AHCCCS makes that decision.
You apply through Health-e-Arizona PLUS, the state application site, or through HealthCare.gov, which sends your application on to AHCCCS if you look eligible. We can help you understand the process.
Your Marketplace plan does not end on its own. Once you are eligible for premium-free Medicare Part A, you generally can no longer get a tax credit, so you should sign up for Medicare on time and then cancel the Marketplace plan for the day Medicare starts.
We help you line up the dates so there is no gap and no overlap. Our turning 65 checklist covers the steps.
Often, yes, but networks differ from plan to plan, even with the same company. Before you enroll we check each doctor, hospital and prescription against the plans you are considering.
No. There is no cost for our help. Agents are paid by the insurance company, and your premium is the same whether you enroll with us or on your own. Call (480) 300-5776 or book a time on this page.
