Accessibility statement
What we built in, what we know is outstanding, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Our commitment
Most of the people this site is written for are approaching or past 65. Many use screen readers, screen magnification, keyboard-only navigation, or simply larger text. Building this site to be usable by all of them was a requirement, not an afterthought.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This statement describes what that means in practice here, and what we know is not yet done.
What is built in
- Every color combination used for text was checked against WCAG contrast ratios before it shipped: body text is at least 7:1 and text on the dark sections is at least 9:1
- The whole site is operable by keyboard alone, including the mega menu, the mobile drawer, the quote funnel and the cookie dialog
- Focus is always visible, never removed, and it moves sensibly: the mobile menu traps focus while open and returns it when closed
- A skip link jumps straight to the main content
- Every image has alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology
- Form fields have real labels, errors are announced, and an error summary appears at the top of the form
- Headings run in order, and landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) are marked up properly
- Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px, and scales to 200% without loss of content
- The animated artwork honours `prefers-reduced-motion`: it renders one static frame and stops, and every reveal animation is disabled
- All content is visible without JavaScript; animation is purely additive
- Tables have proper headers and captions, and wide tables scroll within their own container
Known limitations
We would rather list these than pretend they do not exist:
- Some third-party services we link to (workshop registration, carrier enrollment platforms, HealthCare.gov) are outside our control and may not meet the same standard. If one of them creates a barrier, call us and we will complete the task with you by phone.
If something does not work
Tell us and we will fix it. In the meantime we will get you the information another way. There is no scenario where a website problem should stop you getting help with your insurance.
Call (480) 300-5776, or email viola@riseupbenefitsgroup.com. It helps if you can tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you use, but tell us anyway even if you cannot.
Alternative formats

Common questions
What accessibility standard does the Rise Up website aim for?
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the widely used guidelines for making websites usable by people with disabilities.
Most of the people this site is written for are approaching or past 65, and many use screen readers, magnification, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or simply larger text. Building for them was a requirement from the start.
Can I use this website with only a keyboard?
Yes. The whole site works with a keyboard alone, including the menus, the mobile menu, the quote funnel and the cookie dialog.
The focus outline is always visible so you can see where you are, and a skip link at the top jumps straight to the main content.
Does this website work with a screen reader?
It is built to. Every image has alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology. Headings run in order, and the page areas such as header, navigation, main content and footer are marked up properly.
Form fields have real labels, and errors are announced, with a summary at the top of the form.
Can I make the text bigger on this website?
Yes. You can zoom text to 200% without losing any content, and the page reflows without sideways scrolling down to a 320 pixel wide screen.
Text colors were also checked for contrast before launch: body text is at least 7 to 1 and text on the dark sections is at least 9 to 1, which makes it easier to read.
Can I turn off the moving animations?
Yes. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animated artwork shows one still frame and stops, and the reveal animations are switched off.
All the content is also visible without JavaScript, so nothing important depends on the animation.
What if a website you link to is hard for me to use?
Some services we link to, such as workshop registration, insurance company enrollment platforms and HealthCare.gov, are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
If one of them gets in your way, call (480) 300-5776 and we will complete the task with you by phone.
How do I report an accessibility problem?
Call (480) 300-5776 or email viola@riseupbenefitsgroup.com. It helps to know the page, what you were trying to do, and any assistive technology you use, but please tell us even if you cannot share all of that.
We will fix it, and in the meantime we will get you the information another way.
Can I get information from this website in another format?
Yes. Anything on this site can be provided over the phone, by email, in large print, or in person at the Chandler office. Just ask.
A website problem should never stop you getting help with your insurance.
